Five Parts of a Jacket

Lining: The lining is the material that sits beneath the jacket's outer layer; it gives the

Insulation is provided by the filling, which is commonly composed of down feathers or
synthetic down.
Pockets: On some jacket designs, pockets are added to the chest, front, or lower or

TYPICAL MATERIALS FOR JACKETS
There are many different materials available for jackets, and each one affects the
shape and function of the garment:
Cotton is a natural material that can be dyed in a variety of colors and is fluffy, soft,
and excellent for insulating. Cotton does not provide adequate wind protection and is
not waterproof.
Leather: The tanning of various animal hides produces leather as a material. Although
leather typically comes in a relatively small range of hues, some of it is dyed black or
brown. While synthetic leather manufactured of plastic is supple and waterproof,
natural leather is not.
Wool: Wool is a traditional, substantial, and warm material that works well for winter
jackets. Wool can also be used with acrylic or polyester to create blends that are
softer or more malleable.
Cashmere: A type of wool obtained from particular breeds of goats, such as cashmere
goats, is known as cashmere. Since it is typically tougher, softer, and more insulating
than regular wool, it is regarded as being of higher quality.
Fleece: Made entirely of polyester plastic strands, fleece is a completely synthetic
fabric. A fleece jacket is a popular option for a winter jacket since it is cozy, insulating,
and breathable.
Polyester: is a supple, water-repellent textile made of plastic. Although polyester is
frequently a relatively light material and is frequently seen in windbreakers, polyester
by itself is thin and not the best insulator.
